The conference features undergraduates from across North America who present their scholarly work on cinema and media.

Trace is the first recipient of a Cinema Studies scholarship to attend the conference.  The scholarship is funded by a generous donation from James Ivory.

Cinema Studies students Samantha Stendal and Aaron Blanton published a 26 second video "A Needed Response," to the victim blaming in the media of a rape of a 16-year-old girl in Steubenville, Ohio. On March 17, 2013, Richard Oppel, of the New York Times reported the sentencing of two high school football players in the conviction of rape of an unconscious girl.
