Waldgeist Wins "Best Horror Film" and "Best Supporting Actress" at the Oregon Independent Film Festival

Waldgeist is a horror film that takes place in Portland, Oregon and is based off of the German myth of forest spirits. The team of filmmakers, primarily comprised of UO Cinema Studies alumni, just won its first film festival, winning "Best Horror Film" and "Best Supporting Actress" at the Oregon Independent Film Festival and is also nominated for "Best Picture" at the festival.

Cinema Studies Welcomes Award-Winning Director Athina Rachel Tsangari

Cinema Studies is pleased to welcome award–winning director Athina Rachel Tsangari as the 2017 visiting filmmaker in the annual “Harlan J. Strauss Visiting Filmmaker Endowment in Cinema Studies.”

Tsangari will engage in a two-week university residency during spring term 2017 and will be involved in a variety of campus activities, including teaching workshops and mentoring students in the CINE 408 “Art of Directing” course, as well as participating in public conversations and hosting film screenings.
