Waldgeist Wins "Best Horror Film" and "Best Supporting Actress" at the Oregon Independent Film Festival
Waldgeist is a horror film that takes place in Portland, Oregon and is based off of the German myth of forest spirits. The team of filmmakers, primarily comprised of UO Cinema Studies alumni, just won its first film festival, winning "Best Horror Film" and "Best Supporting Actress" at the Oregon Independent Film Festival and is also nominated for "Best Picture" at the festival.
Congratulations UO Cinema Studies Alumni!
During the summer of 2014, Olivia Cordell and Brad Burke sat down to write a short film, a short horror film that would use the beautiful Oregon landscape that has been the inspiration for many of Burke’s films. Burke reached out to a team of talented UO Cinema Studies majors to create the short film, Waldgeist, including Cassidy Garcia, Claire Haines, David Chiang, Jordyn Roach, Julia Mandeberg, Kate Tallman, Phillip Davey, Rachel Brock and Nathan Engelmann. Burke went on to cast actors that he and his team worked with in the Cinema Studies "No Budget Filmming" course, taught by Dr. Andre Sirois, and started on Green Studio Production’s first project.
After two years in production, Green Studio Productions released its first feature, Waldgeist, which won "Best Horror Film" and "Best Supporting Actress" at the Oregon Independent Film Festival and has also been nominated for Best Picture at the festival.
