Cinema Studies invites students, faculty, staff, and the community to a screening of Cinematographer: A Short Documentary followed by a Q&A with Demi Waldron, director and director of photography.

In this virtual event, we will screen Waldron's short documentary about six women cinematographers who share the challenges and complexities of life working as a modern cinematographer. After the screening, Waldron will answer questions related to the documentary, cinematography, her creative works, and transnational cinematographic influences.

about demi waldron

Demi Waldron on the set of a film

Demi Waldron is a cinematographer based in New York City. Demi grew up in rural South Carolina, drawing and experimenting with photography. She later attended the Savannah College of Art and Design where she found her love for filmmaking. She now lives and works in New York City. Demi is dedicated to honest storytelling and purposeful leadership on set.
​She recently completed the short documentary and Vimeo Staff Pick, Cinematographer, which shares the stories of 6 female cinematographers: Autumn Eakin, Reed Morano, Kate Arizmendi, Allison Anderson, Maria Rusche, and Emoni Aikens. ​Her work has played in festivals around the country including Outfest LA, Cannes Lions, Sarasota Film Festival, Savannah Film Festival, Athena Film Festival, Bushwick Film Festival, and more. Her work holds numerous accolades including Red Dot Design Awards, College Television Award Nominations, a bronze CLIO award, and two Gold Addy Awards.
