The UO Department of Cinema Studies is currently hiring for an Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies

The Department of Cinema Studies at the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR is currently hiring for an Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies (Job #524150) with an emphasis on cinemas of the Global South, including Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and/or their diasporas. We seek scholars and scholar-practitioners whose work examines the theories, histories, and cultures of Global South cinemas—including film, video, TV, and emerging media—and attends to the aesthetic and industrial practices of cinema in local and transnational contexts.

Minimum qualifications for this position require successful applicants to have expertise and an active research and/or creative agenda in cinemas—including film, video, TV, and emerging media—of the Global South and a PhD in Cinema or relevant field, in hand by September 1, 2020.

The Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies position is slated to start in Fall 2020 and is open until filled; however, application review will begin on Tuesday, October 15th.
