On Monday, April 24, Mat Johnson, UO Professor and Philip H. Knight Chair of the Humanities will be an honored speaker in the African American Workshop and Lecture Series, hosted by the Division of Equity and Inclusion and the Office of the President.

Cinema Studies majors are invited to attend a small group meeting with Prof. Johnson. The meeting will be held in Tykeson 460 on Monday, April 24th from 10:00 am to 10:50 am. Prof. Johnson is a working screenwriter and will be teaching CINE 320: Beginning Screenwriting during Fall Term '23.

Mat Johnson is Professor and Philip H. Knight Chair of Humanities in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Oregon. His publications include the novels Invisible Things, Loving Day, and Pym, the nonfiction novella The Great Negro Plot, and the graphic novel Incognegro. Johnson is the recipient of the American Book Award, the United States Artist James Baldwin Fellowship, The Hurston/Wright Legacy Award, the John Dos Passos Prize for Literature, and the American Book Award.
