Film Curators Bradford Noreen and Clara López Menéndez continue the JSMA's Queer Production Series with "Hardcore Home Movies" and "Hustler White"
Schnitzer Cinema, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art’s annual film series, continues its Queer Productions series with film curators Bradford Nordeen and Clara López Menéndez of the Dirty Looks Collective. On March 8, at 7 p.m., “Hustler White” will be shown at the Queer Film Series at The Wayward Lamb, 150 West Broadway, Eugene; and on March 9, at 7 p.m. “Hardcore Home Movies” will be shown at the JSMA on the University of Oregon campus.
Programmed by Richard Herskowitz, director of Cinema Pacific and JSMA Curator of Media Arts, with the help of Professor Quinn Miller, both events are free.
“Bradford and Clara of the Dirty Looks Collective have been exciting audiences all over the country with their lively and informed presentations of classic and contemporary queer cinema, and we’re thrilled to bring them to Eugene,” states Herskowitz.

"Hustler White"
The Queer Film Series at The Wayward Lamb screens “Hustler White,” a satirical dark comedy about taboos, sex, money, corruption, and romance on Tuesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. with special guests Nordeen and Menéndez. In “Hustler White,” producer, co-writer, co-director, and star Bruce LaBruce, plays Jurgen Anger, an anthropologist conducting fieldwork on prostitution who meets Montgomery Ward, a gay hustler with a deceptive past.

“Hardcore Home Movies”
Continuing on March 9, Nordeen and Menéndez will introduce the screening of “Hardcore Home Movies.” This program is a collection of experimental short films that embrace thematic elements of identity, definition, and exploration. “Hardcore Home Movies” includes Jonesy’s 1992 “Fiend,” Greta Snider’s 1989 “Hard-Core Home Movie,” Jill Reiter’s 1993 “Birthday Party,” G.B. Jones’ 1990 “The Troublemakers,” Scott Treleaven’s 2001 “The Salivation Army,” Rick Castro’s 1994 “3. Dr. Chris Teen Sex Surrogate,” and Greta Snider’s 1993 “Our Gay Brothers.”

The Dirty Looks Collective is a bi-coastal platform for queer experimental film, video and performance. Designed to trace contemporary queer aesthetics through historical works, Dirty Looks presents quintessential GLBT film and video, alongside up-and-coming artists and filmmakers. Dirty Looks exhibits a lineage of queer tactics and visual styles for younger artists, casual viewers and seasoned avant-garde filmgoers alike.
Since it was established in 2011, Dirty Looks NYC has staged local screening initiatives at The Museum of Modern Art, The Kitchen, Participant Inc, White Columns, Artists Space and Judson Memorial Church, with a Roadshow touring the West Coast yearly. The Cinema Pacific’s Queer Productions is supported by the Department of English, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Office of Academic Affairs, a JSMA Academic Support Grant, Center for the Study of Women in Society, and the Cinema Studies Program.
