Comic Con Begins

Research for a new six-part podcast on the history of the San Diego Comic-Con is provided by Cinema Studies Associate Professor Erin Hanna. The podcast includes interviews with Hanna and research from her latest book: Only at Comic-Con: Hollywood, Fans, and the Limits of Exclusivity.

Weekly episodes begin June 22, 2021.

Cinema Studies is excited to congratulate Erin Hanna who has been promoted to associate professor with indefinite tenure! Erin joined the University of Oregon in 2014 and teaches courses on television; the film industry; fan culture; and gender media and diversity. Her research focuses on the relationship between media industries and audiences. Her most recent book, Only at Comic-Con: Hollywood, Fans, and the Limits of Exclusivity, examines the connection between exclusivity and the proliferation of media industry promotion at the longest-running comic convention in North America.
