Student videos from “Cinema in the City” course 2013

Cinema in the City is a summer session course co-offered by the University of Oregon Cinema Studies program and the Northwest Film Center.

Instructors:  Andre Sirois, UO Cinema Studies; Bushra Azzouz, NW Film Center

Cinema in the City explores how cinematographers and filmmakers use the moving image to interpret the urban landscape.  Students developed their own moving image aesthetic by creating a short film that explores the contemporary urban environment of downtown Portland through pictures and sound.

In just 2 weeks, students learned to:

Shoot on 16mm film, hand process 16mm film, record and edit sound for cinema, and digitally edit a short film.
