Faculty & Staff

The Department of Cinema Studies at the University of Oregon is a community of scholars, filmmakers, and staff dedicated to providing students with a well-rounded study of cinema, television, and other forms of media. Our scholarship, pedagogy, and practice explore a range of media objects and their contexts, including history, artistry, industry, identity, geopolitics, and systems of power. Our department's shared mission is to use our critical and creative tools to amplify underrepresented voices, interrogate power, drive change, and be at the cutting edge of filmmaking practice and its academic study.

Cinema Studies faculty offices are located on the first and second floors of PLC and the second floor of Knight Library. A team of staff members, located in McKenzie Hall, provides general department operations. Multimedia Services staff members operate the Cinema Studies Computer Lab, located in 267 Knight Library, and the Equipment Room, located 18 Knight Library.

Cinema Studies advising is located in Tykeson Hall.  Whether you are a current undergraduate, prospective undergraduate, or post-baccalaureate student, the Media, Arts & Expression (MAE) Flight Path advisors and coordinator within the Tykeson Hall College and Career Advising Team is your primary resource for guidance and information.
