Film brings together all other art forms and synthesizes them into something new. We have barely begun to scratch the surface of what is possible in this magical medium, and those of us who dare to push at the edges are marginalized by a culture that promotes easy answers, predigested concepts and Pavlovian response.

We’ve been watching the same movie

for the last 80 years.

As you wander through this arid desert littered with dead symbols, we ask you to raise your head and look out over the horizon. SEE IT? YES THERE!! Just on the periphery of your vision, That shimmering in the distance is not a hallucination.

PORTLAND SCREENING: CINEMA 21

Over its 90-plus year history, Cinema 21 has become a hub for the city's film culture and one of Portland's most revered cinemas. The theater has premiered many important art films, including Slackers, Drugstore Cowboy, Pan's Labyrinth, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, There Will Be Blood, Beasts of the Southern Wild, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Wild, Moonlight, Won't You Be My Neighbor? and many other highly-acclaimed feature and documentary films.

EUGENE SCREENING: ART HOUSE

Built in 1925, the historic Wilcox Building’s interior has been recently restored, highlighting its beautiful Spanish Mission-style architectural flourishes and original hand-stenciled woodwork. Originally known as Bijou Art Cinemas, the theater was founded in 1980 by Michael Lamont, and is currently operated by former employees who assumed management of the theater after his passing in 2007. Our programming continues to evolve with an ever-changing cinema industry, but at its core stays true to its roots as an Art House. Alongside current foreign and indie releases, you’ll find a variety of event screenings, cult and classic film series, and showcases of local and touring musical talent.

“The mind does not structure important events sequentially and authentic cinema should reflect that”.

-Andrei Tarkovsky, (paraphrased)
