Screening of Camp de Thiaroye and Discussion with Cinema Studies Instructor Dr. Allison McGuffie

All are welcome to attend this special screening of a remarkable film
from African director Ousmane Sembene, the father of African Cinema.

Camp de Thiaroye is a powerful war drama. Banned for a decade in France
and Senegal for the unsparing truth it speaks, this award winning film
depicts a rarely recounted instance of African resistance during World
War II to French colonial rule and its brutal suppression. Dr. Allison
McGuffie will present the film and lead a brief discussion after the
screening.
