Scholarship and Practice at Work
The Cinema Studies major is distinctive in its integration of critical study and creative production and its strength in global cinemas. To foster a strong cinema community in Eugene and beyond, the Department of Cinema Studies sponsors original programming and collaborates with other departments and organizations in supporting media studies events. From the annual Harlan J. Strauss Visiting Filmmaker Series, to working filmmaker and scholar speakers, to collaborating with departments and student groups across campus, Cinema Studies provides a robust experience for UO students, faculty, alumni, and the community at large.
