Congratulations to the Cinema Studies majors participating in the 2018 Cinema Studies Commencement Ceremony!
Please read here for important information on registering to participate in the Cinema Studies ceremony, applying to graduate, ordering regalia and honors cords, and important day-of-event information.
Register to Participate in the Cinema Studies Commencement Ceremony:
If you are graduating by fall 2018, you are eligible to participate in the Cinema Studies Commencement Ceremony. In order to participate in the Cinema Studies Ceremony, students must submit the Cinema Studies Commencement Reservation form by Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
In order to have your name printed in the program, eligible majors must complete the Cinema Studies Commencement Reservation form by Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Note: Students with a “confidentiality directory release restriction” must contact CINEAdvising@uoregon.edu to provide written authorization to have their name printed in the program.
Please note that “participating in commencement” is not the same thing as “graduating.” Diplomas are not issued at the Cinema Studies Commencement Ceremony (see below for information on graduating).
Apply to Graduate:
"Graduating" vs. "Walking and/or Participating" in Commencement:
“Graduating” and “walking and/or participating in commencement” are two different things. "Walking and/or Participating" means that you may still have some coursework and/or credit requirements to fulfill after spring 2018 that will be complete either in the summer or fall 2018. “Graduating” means you will have completed/are complete with all Bachelor of Arts degree, Cinema Studies major (and additional major and/or minor requirements) in order to receive your diploma. You will receive your actual diploma by mail 6-8 weeks after your graduation date, not during the commencement ceremony.
Apply to graduate on DuckWeb:
You must apply to graduate, which is done on DuckWeb (Student Menu=>Apply for Undergraduate Degree). Applying to graduate means that you’re telling the university, “I am finished with all my classes and requirements. Please award my diploma.”
Deadlines to apply for a degree:
- Spring 2018 degree: Sunday, April 29, 2018 by 11:59pm
- Summer 2018: TBD
- Fall 2018 degree: Sunday, October 20, 2018 by 11:59pm
Contact CINEAdvising@uoregon.edu if you have any questions about degree requirements.

Regalia may be purchased through the UO Bookstore during the annual Grad Fair April 9th – 12th in the Duck Store Annex. Visit the UO Commencement website for more information and read the Grad Fair Flyer.

Cost per sash is $33.50-$66.25 depending on the number of countries represented. Please email email@example.com with questions. Deadline to Order a GEO Study Abroad Sash: April 6th, 2018
Students eligible for department honors may purchase honor cords with their regalia. Cinema Studies will notify students if they qualify for honors. Students with program honors will be noted in the commencement program.
Graduating seniors who have earned at least 90 credits in residence at the University of Oregon and have successfully completed all other university degree requirements are eligible for graduation with Latin honors. The Office of the Registrar computes Latin honors upon graduation. Once students are notified by the Office of the Registrar that they are receiving Latin honors, students will be able to purchase an honors cord at the Duck Store.
