Cinema Studies students Samantha Stendal and Aaron Blanton published a 26 second video "A Needed Response," to the victim blaming in the media of a rape of a 16-year-old girl in Steubenville, Ohio. On March 17, 2013, Richard Oppel, of the New York Times reported the sentencing of two high school football players in the conviction of rape of an unconscious girl. This video is a rebuttal to the opinions circulated about the rape victim on social media. Stendal stated in the March 26, 3013, Michael Walsh article published in the New York Daily News, ""It is horrifying to me that some people can say that people deserve rape when they are passed out." Both students were interviewed on March 28th by CNN about their video.
