If you must travel over spring break (or anytime), minimize your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19 in these three easy steps: 

Before you travel: Check your destination state and city for any travel restrictions or requirements.  Do not travel if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are in isolation, have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms in the past three days, or have had contact with a confirmed case, or are in quarantine. 

Before you head back to Eugene: Schedule a test to take place 3-5 days after your return. Schedule with one of these providers: MAP; other testing providers in Lane County.

Upon return: Quarantine by yourself until you receive word of a negative test— that is, keep distance and wear your mask around others, including your roommate(s)-- and watch yourself for symptoms.

Students, staff, and faculty at UO are invited to apply to share their stories at the spring event – “Intertwined: CHANCES.” Intertwined: A UO Listening Event is a story-telling event that will pair story tellers from the University of Oregon community with artists and musicians to create a staged event that pairs truth and artistry to increase awareness and empathy here at the UO. Student, Faculty, and Staff story tellers are all welcome! We ask that story tellers share stories that are their own personal truth.

The University of Oregon is extending the protections of two-step login to students during winter and spring terms. All students can now enroll in Duo, the UO's two-step login service, to secure their Duck ID accounts. Instructions are available in the UO Service Portal. In spring term, all students will be required to use Duo to access protected UO services such as Canvas, Zoom, UOmail and Microsoft applications such as Word and Teams. To encourage students to enroll in Duo during the voluntary period, Information Services is holding a prize drawing.

Any student who opts in by March 12 will automatically be entered to win one of 82 prizes of $10 or $50 in Duck Bucks or gift cards to the Duck Store or Starbucks.

Sabrina Gimenez loved movies, but she couldn’t imagine a future in film until a light bulb moment during her senior year at the University of Oregon.

For a film studies class, she had created a short, stop-motion animated film about two bicycles that go on a date on campus, culminating in a dorm-room tryst. As she pieced the film together, she found herself completely enthralled. “All of a sudden, I look at my clock on the computer, and six hours had passed right before my very eyes, and I was like, ‘How did this happen?’” 

Fast-forward seven years, and the 2013 graduate (English, cinema studies) is now working in Hollywood as an assistant film editor. She has helped produce scripted movies, including director Miguel Arteta’s 2020 comedy Like a Boss, the upcoming Netflix comedy Yes Day, and season two of the critically acclaimed Hulu teen drama series, Love, Victor.
