EALL 410 Transnational Film Authors is open to all majors and satisfies the “Core Courses: C” requirement of Cinema Studies.
4-7:50 pm (lecture/screening), Tuesdays, Chapman 203, CRN 12791
This course explores the works of three filmmakers, Ang Lee (Life of Pi, Brokeback Mountain, Lust, Caution, Hulk), Chan-wook Park (Oldboy, Stoker, J.S.A.) and Iwai Shunji (Love Letter, All about Lily Chou-Chou, New York, I Love You). While introducing students to these prominent filmmakers from Asia, the course also aims to examine the notion of “film authorship” with a transnational framework by probing the global circulation and influence of their works.
